I think that the city has countless opportunities to see and experience new things, but it's too fast-paced for my liking. Too many people, too much traffic, too much smoke: it was a total sensory overload for someone like me. That being said, it was an incredible place to visit, and I would gladly go back to see another Broadway production.
Above: Perhaps the greatest highlight of the trip was being able to see Phantom of the Opera on Broadway. I've loved the musical for many years, and there is nothing quite like seeing it in person for the first time.
Above: I can finally say that I've seen the Statue of Liberty! A fun fact that our City Line tour guide told us is that she's standing with one foot slightly forward, and the flames on her torch are being blown backwards. In other words, she's frozen in the motion of moving forward, rather than being at a standstill, and I quite like that symbolism.
Above: This is my favorite photo from the trip. St. Patrick's Cathedral was truly magnificent. It would be nearly impossible not to feel God's presence in that space.
Above: We also had the opportunity to see Dear Evan Hansen and the Oklahoma! revival while we were in the city. I really enjoyed Dear Evan Hansen and found it incredibly easy to relate to, while I wasn't a huge fan of the Oklahoma! revival. It has gotten some great reviews, and I think it was an intriguing show, but some of the changes were too bizarre for me.
All in all, it's a trip that I'll never forget, and it has strengthened my desire to see and experience different parts of the world. NYC, I hope we'll meet again someday.
Love,
Tori
