PREP FOR A DAY'S FIRST BIRTHDAY

September 20, 2015

A year ago today, I made a spontaneous decision (which is a miracle in itself because I've never loved spontaneity).  That spontaneous decision changed my life more than I ever thought it would.

Prep For A Day has slowly evolved into one of the best aspects of my life.  Blogging has given me a new purpose.  It's given me a goal, and it's given me the courage to do some pretty amazing things.
I will admit that my preconceived notions of blogging were so adverse to the reality.  I ran into some unexpected hassles, but I'm all the better because of them.

I automatically assumed that all bloggers hire someone to design their websites for them (and, I suppose, I assumed that would be my course of action).  Boy, was I wrong!  I've learned so much more about HTML than I ever wanted to...

I also assumed that the majority of bloggers focused on fashion, and I'm so glad that isn't the case!  I love fashion posts, but I've read so many inspirational and helpful lifestyle posts over the past year that a solely fashion-based blog world seems rather contrived.

One fear I had when I first started out was that I'd never fit into the "blogger niche."  I thought making blogger friends would be the equivalent of trying to be friends with the popular people at a high school. Yet I found my niche, and I found a group of amazing friends (MANY thanks to Jessica, along with Katie, Katelyn, Mikayla, SmileShineInspire, and many others).

The biggest fear I had was that my parents would be the only ones who would ever consider reading Prep For A Day.  I may not be anywhere close to 100,000 page views, but I'm heading there.  I may not have 100,000 Instagram followers, but I recently reached 1,200--and to me, that's a huge deal!

To anyone who's ever read along and kept up with the blog:  thank you.

To one year, and many more.

Love,
Tori

  2. Yay! Happy birthday, prepforaday.com!! I totally agree with you on feeling like there were "blogger expectations" that I had to live up to. I even felt/still feel that way sometimes about my Instagram. I'm no where near a huge number of followers or even subscribers BUT just knowing that I can get my thoughts out of my head, makes me feel pretty great. I also have made some pretty great connections and friendships (ahem) through both Instagram and my blog too. I can't wait to see what the next year has in store for prepforaday!

    Choose to make today great!
